GAANN Program Application Information
The focus of Rensselaer GAANN is in the area of “Terascale electronic and photonic materials and devices”. The fellowships will cover full tuition and provide a yearly stipend up to $30,000 pending the FAFSA results. This Fellowship is renewable contingent upon satisfactory progress. To be considered, candidates must demonstrate financial need and plan to pursue a Ph.D. in the terascale electronics and related areas.
Candidate Profile
To be successful, the students nominated should possess the following characteristics:
- Must be either US citizens or Permanent residents of the US
- Possess excellent GPA and GRE scores
- Qualified for admission to the PhD program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
- Able to provide faculty recommendations supporting the nomination
- Must demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA (This report determines your need/stipend)

How to Apply
Faculty Nomination Process:
Faculty members may select up to three candidates for consideration. Complete and return the GAANN Fellowship Nomination Form by fax (518) 276 6680 or by e-mail physics-GAANN@rpi.edu.

Secure faculty recommendations that demonstrate your potential for success at Rensselaer and qualification for the GAANN Fellowship.
Submit your application materials to Graduate Admissions
In your “Statement of Background and Goals”, please make it clear that you are interested in being a GAANN Fellow.

- Spring entrance: August 15
Fellowship award notification:
